Outdoor Puzzle Trails

  • Outdoor puzzle trails are all self-guided experiences which can be played using a smartphone or mobile-data enabled tablet. Following a series of clues on your phone you'll explore real world locations in order to find the answers and move on to the next clue.
  • The trails are played using the ClueKeeper app which is free to download (iOS or Android).
  • Purchase your chosen adventure by following the link on the individual trail page. Once purchased, download your trail ready for playing. Don't worry, it won't actually start until you enter the start code word.
  • You can play your trail on any day you choose. Some trails visit places which are only open during certain hours and hence can't be played at night. Check the page for your chosen adventure for the exact time it is available.
  • We recommend you bring a pen and paper with you on your trail.
  • You can invite additional team members using the menu button on the trail welcome screen. This will allow your trail to display on multiple phones simultaneously. We recommend teams of 2-5 players. If you have more than this it’s often best to break into multiple teams.
  • You will need a data connection during your trail to submit answers and keep in sync across multiple team phones. The initial download is typical less than 30MB and can be done over Wi-Fi before you start. After that you should use very little data.
  • Read your trail instructions carefully as they will contain the starting location and start code word. Enter this to begin your hunt — but be careful, the timer will start as soon as you do!
  • After that it's up to you to follow the clues until you reach the finish. Feel free to use maps to check directions.
  • If you get stuck you'll find hints available. And as a last resort you can always skip a clue entirely.
